Yuna Talks About Life Behind The Music

Homegrown singer-songwriter Yuna was recently described by The New York Times as a “poster girl for young hijabsters” while LA Weekly dubbed her “the Muslim pop star.”

But there’s more to the Kedahan’s meteoric rise to fame than meets the eye. The usually reticent songstress will be opening up to viewers in E! News Asia Special: Yuna, a half-hour programme hosted by George Young.

The show will shed light on the challenges faced by Yuna in her career, from intense criticism for not being talented enough to the ache of living far apart from her family in the United States. Yuna will also touch on her love life plus what it means to be a role model for the young, modern Muslim woman.

Universal Networks International Asia-pacific managing director Christine Fellowes says in a press statement: “A household name in Malaysia and a rising star in the United States, we are confident Yuna’s inspiring life story will resonate with viewers – not just locally but across the region.”

E! News Asia Special: Yuna premieres Tuesday at 10pm on E! (Astro Ch 712).
